Terms of use
Sereno Routing, the web edition and the Android and iPhone apps
Updated 29 October 2026
Sereno Routing plans sailing passages on forecast weather. It's run by Ray Hendricks aboard S/V Sabado. By signing in or using it, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it.
What it's for
A route here is for planning a passage, not for navigating by. It's made from forecasts and from coarse land, reef and depth data, and any of those can be wrong, late or missing. Check every route against your charts, the official forecasts and what you see around you, and keep your own watch.
Weather forecasts are uncertain by nature. The service tries to keep routes clear of land, reefs and shallow water, but the data it uses for them is an approximation, and a route can still cross shallows, reefs, rocks or land the data doesn't show. It's your job to change a route to avoid hazards.
You're the skipper. Where you go, when you leave and whether a passage is safe for your boat and crew are your decisions, and so is the responsibility and the risk of navigating.
Your account
You sign in with a membership at https://www.svsabado.com. Your membership and its billing are handled by that site, under its own terms. An account is for one person and isn't to be shared. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in private, and for what's done with it. If you think someone else has used your sign-in, write to the address below at once.
Using the service
Use it for your own passage planning. Please don't:
- break the law with it, or use it to harm anyone;
- try to see another person's data, or to get around the limits and checks the service has;
- send automated or very heavy traffic, copy the service's data in bulk, or resell it;
- change, take apart or reverse engineer the service's software or data;
- interfere with the service, or with the sources it relies on.
Some features have daily limits, such as routes and satellite tiles, to keep the service working for everyone.
Who owns what
The service's software, design and the information it publishes belong to Ray Hendricks or the organizations that license them. You get a personal, limited license to use the service, and it can't be transferred. The routes, settings and areas you save are yours.
What we provide
The service is provided as it is. It's built with care, but it has faults, and no software or data source is free of them. It may be slow, unavailable or changed, for repairs, for maintenance, when a data source fails, or when the law or a supplier requires it. Features can be added, changed or removed, and so can which membership levels include them. A route can fail, or can come out wrong, and a forecast can be wrong or out of date.
The weather, chart, depth, place and imagery data come from other organizations, under their own licenses, for example the GFS, ECMWF and AIFS weather models. They're credited in the app under Data credits. We show their data as it comes and don't check it, so we can't guarantee it.
Tide heights come from a global ocean tide model, not from local tide tables. Don't use them for navigation, or for anything where a person or a boat could come to harm if they're wrong.
The service may link to other websites. We aren't responsible for them or for anything on them.
Limits on what we're responsible for
To the extent the law allows:
- we make no promise that the service or its routes, forecasts or data are accurate, complete, on time or fit for any purpose;
- we're not liable for loss or damage from using the service or from relying on it, including damage to a boat, injury, delay, a grounding, or lost income or profit, or for any indirect or consequential loss;
- if we're found liable for something despite this, our liability is limited to what you paid for your membership in the 12 months before the event.
Some places don't allow some of these limits. Where that's so, they apply only as far as the law lets them. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
Ending your use
You can stop using the service at any time. When your membership at svsabado.com ends, access ends with it, and your saved data is deleted as the privacy page says. We can suspend or end access, without notice, for misuse or for breaking these terms, for a risk to the service or to other people's use of it, or if the service itself ends.
Privacy
What the service keeps about you, and why, is on the privacy page.
Changes
These terms can change. When they do, the date at the top changes, and we may also show a notice in the app. If you keep using the service after a change, you accept the changed terms.
If part of these terms doesn't hold
If a court finds part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, and any dispute is for the courts of Texas, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
