Sereno Routing, the web edition and the Android and iPhone apps

Updated 18 October 2026

Sereno Routing plans sailing passages on forecast weather. It's run by Ray Hendricks aboard S/V Sabado. This page says what the service keeps about you, why, who else sees any of it, and how to have it deleted. There are no ads, no analytics or tracking tools, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing.

Signing in

You sign in with a membership at https://www.svsabado.com. When you do, the router receives a short-lived token from that site naming your member ID, your email address and your membership tier. It keeps your member ID, your email (as a label so you can be told apart), your tier and when you last signed in, and uses them only to decide whether you can use the service. Your payment details stay with svsabado.com; the router never sees them. Until 15 November 2026 some people sign in with an access token instead; the router keeps that token's name and a one-way hash of it, never the token itself.

On the phones, the app keeps its sign-in in the phone's secure storage (the Keychain on iPhone), and sends it only to the router.

What you save

The router keeps what you create so you can come back to it: routes you plan (their start, finish, waypoints, departure and results), your boat's settings (name, hull, length, polar, motor polar, fuel rate, wind and wave limits, minimum depth and Saillogger boat name), areas to avoid, and the passages you plan and watch. Each person's data is kept apart from everyone else's.

Your position

The Android app and the web edition can show your position on the map if you allow it. It stays on your device unless you use it as a route's start, which saves it with that route. The iPhone app doesn't use your position.

Records the router keeps to run the service

For each request the router notes which account made it, which part of the service it used, whether it worked, its size and time, and which app and version sent it. Positions, routes and other contents aren't written into these records. They're used to keep the service working and to find faults. Sending a route to be checked is the exception: its record doesn't say which account sent it or which route it was (see Routes you report).

If you turn on problem reports in the Android app's Settings, it sends the router a report when something goes wrong: the app's version, the phone's model, Android version and screen size, the app's recent requests to the router and recent log lines, and any note you add. Reports are kept in a small store where the oldest are dropped first, and are used only to fix problems.

Routes you report

In the web edition, a finished route's Export tab has Report this route, for a route that looks wrong. Nothing is sent until you press Send. When you do, the router keeps a copy of the route for Ray to check: its start, finish, waypoints, departure and name, the areas it was set to avoid, your boat's settings as the route used them, its polar, its results, the forecast it ran on (each model's run over the route's area, while the router still holds that run), any note you add, when you sent it, and which app and version sent it.

The copy is anonymous and kept apart from your account. It holds no account name, member ID, email address or sign-in, and the router doesn't record who sent it. Because of that, it isn't deleted with your account. To have one removed, write to the address below with the route's date, start and finish, and it'll be found by those and deleted.

Only Ray sees reported routes. They're used only to find and fix faults in the router, aren't shared with anyone, and are deleted 12 months after they're sent.

Others who see something

Deleting your data

When a svsabado.com membership is deleted, the router deletes that member's routes, settings, planned passages and other saved data. You can also ask for your data to be deleted, or for a copy of it, by writing to the address below.

Children

The service isn't meant for children under 13, and doesn't knowingly keep anything about them.
